Wags and Wishes...

In Loving Memory of C.J.

C.J. – 15yo Border Collie/Sheltie-Mix. C.J. experienced severe pain due to his advanced Osteoarthritis and was having serious mobility issues. Through massage and warm water therapy, we were able to give him a great deal of pain relief, as well as help him maintain, and even gain, strength, stamina, and mobility. He also received acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

Angel Angel – 2yo Jack Russell Terrier with hind end Paralysis. At only two years old, Angel was struck by a car, causing severe trauma to her brain which led to paralysis. The main goal with her was to increase her body awareness and help possibly re-connect her brain with her body. After several months of water therapy, she began to show slight responses to stimulation of acupressure points in her feet!
Beau Beau – 10wo English Bulldog diagnosed with Hemivertebrae. This condition has caused Beau to have a weakened right leg, and he is unable to bend his right knee. (He walks a bit like Charlie Chaplin.) In addition, he is bowel and bladder incontinent. Hydrotherapy has helped him develop his strength, mobility, and coordination. And he looks terrific in his yellow life jacket and blue “Speedo”!
Bella Bella – (AKA: "Ballistic Bella") Black Lab recovering from TPLO surgery. "Recovering?" What am I talking about! She is fully functional and raring to go! (At all times!) Now she comes to the pool for playtime and conditioning one or two times a week. She is "all about the ball," and don't let your fingers get in her way! (You may not get all of them back! Ha! Ha!)
Casey Casey - 12yo Black Lab with severe Osteoarthritis.

Daisy Mae Daisy Mae – 14mo Lab-Mix believed to have Cervical Ataxia. She has very poor coordination of all four legs, and is unable to walk without being supported. Daisy responds very well to water therapy, with our goal being to increase her proprioception, coordination, and strength. She was recently adopted by a veterinary technician and goes to work with her mom every day, swimming several times a week.
Dexter Dexter - Golden Retriever

Gavin Gavin - 7mo Aussie-Mix has neurological damage after surviving Distemper. Gavin's left leg is severely contracted and spasms constantly. His right leg has strong musculature, but his brain does not seem to connect with it to provide proper mobility. Through hydrotherapy, we have been able to increase his proprioception, strength, and endurance. We have lots of hope for this special little guy!
Gino Gino – 8yo German Shepherd with Bilateral Elbow Dysplasia and a diagnosis of possible Degenerative Myelopathy. Our goals with Gino are to maintain and increase his strength, stamina, and mobility, while reducing the chance of muscle atrophy in his hindquarters. In addition to canine water therapy, Gino receives acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and chiropractic care.
Jade Jade -

Maddie Maddie – At 12 years old with severe Osteoarthritis, Maddie still competes frequently in agility events, and loves every minute of it! But after each competition, she may experience soreness for several days. In the water’s non-weight-bearing environment, she has much relief from the pain and thoroughly enjoys her massages. Maddie’s warm water therapy allows her to continue doing what she loves most!

Mattie Mattie -

Ranger Ranger – 8yo Lab-Mix brought in for weight loss and to have fun. And that he has! Ranger is the biggest “splasher”, always making a grand entrance into the pool. He swims lap, after lap, after lap, taking several breaks as needed. Coming in twice a week has allowed Ranger to lose several pounds of fat, while gaining muscle mass. In addition, the benefits to his cardiovascular system are immeasurable.
Sadie Sadie – 7yo Golden Retriever with Hypothyroidism. As her metabolism slowed due to her underactive thyroid gland, Sadie gained weight and became more lethargic. She lacked interest in playtime and would tire out on walks. But she still loved to swim! She was brought in primarily to aid with weight loss, get regular exercise, and to have fun.
Sassy Sassy – 12yo Shepherd-Mix with Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). Advanced DM now confines Sassy to a mobility cart, as she no longer has use of her hind legs. But she still loves to swim with her front ones! Water therapy helps her retain strength and coordination in the front of her body, where she needs it most. Sassy is unstoppable in her cart and sees no difference between herself and any other of her canine friends! She still wins every race!
